Welding Chargehand

Location: Aberdeen

Reports To: Workshop Manager

Accountability:

  • Responsible for ensuring best work practices are in place.
  • Accountable for upcoming scopes & assigned weld procedure to maximise efficiency.
  • Maintain the welding store is fully stocked at all times for all upcoming scopes.
  • First point of contact in the Workshop to resolve welding related issues.
  • Deputise, if required, for the Workshop Manager to cover weekends, holidays, sickness.
  • To liaise with Senior Management to ensure that adequate supervision cover is onsite at all times of production.
  • Responsible for ensuring Company policies on Health and Safety, Environment are adhered to.
  • Lead and develop Welders and Workshop personnel in respect of training and passing on skills/knowledge.
  • Work closely with Senior Management to ensure Client deliverables are met.
  • Work closely with the Welding Engineers and QHSE to ensure all guidelines are adhered to.
  • Adhere to QHSE and Group HR policies and procedures.
  • Key facilitator in ensuring all work is carried out in a safe environment.
  • Work offshore, onsite as required as welding focal point.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Time served with a Level 3 qualification in welding and fabrication minimum.
  • Experience of welding using MMA, TIG, MIG & SAW (preferred all but not all a necessity).
  • Experience working in a medium to heavy fabrication background.
  • Forklift truck qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Familiar with Hydro/Power/Petrochemical and Oil and Gas industries.
  • Experience working with different materials types and thicknesses.
  • Offshore survival, MIST.
