Statutory Inspection for the Wind Industry

Statutory Inspection For Wind Infrastructure
"Conducted properly, statutory inspections offer a unique opportunity to head off emergent issues before they cause damage to critical infrastructure or necessitate unscheduled stoppages."

For onshore and offshore wind farm owners and operators, statutory inspections are a legal requirement – undertaken to ensure full compliance with HSE regulations like the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998.

The benefits of regular, well-planned and well-executed inspections extend well beyond regulatory compliance: If conducted properly, statutory inspections also present operators with a unique opportunity to head off emergent issues before they cause damage to critical infrastructure or necessitate unscheduled stoppages.

We understand the costs that an out of service wind turbine can cost operators per day and the expense that comes with repairing damaged equipment - so it makes sense to do everything in your power to mitigate potential problems early on and prevent unexpected downtime.

A Statutory Inspection Service You Can Depend On

We offer a thorough statutory inspection service, covering everything from lifting equipment and lifting accessories, fall arrest and work restraint systems, turbine mounted safety equipment (TMSE), fire suppression equipment as well as personnel lifts, hoists and cranes. We can also repair any faults found during the inspection to prevent any additional downtime.

It’s also worth noting that this is a bespoke service – customised to account for the turbine type and balance of plant on your site. This can be done as part of an ongoing campaign or on an ad hoc basis. Wherever we are requested to supply statutory inspection services, we work closely with our client’s to understand their requirements to ensure that all safety-critical systems are properly inspected on a regular basis.

To ensure that our statutory inspection service ticks all the boxes, we’ve built a strong team of in-house wind energy experts and technicians, well versed in providing clients with informed integrity recommendations so that they can take necessary action.

At the Forefront of the Green Energy Transition

Our services are not limited to statutory inspection. In fact, we draw on a 30 years track record in the wind industry, predomiately built from inspecting monopiles, transition pieces, jackets and substations for global offshore wind projects.

While we are rightly proud of our heritage and hard-won experience, we’re equally dedicated to being at the forefront of new techniques and technologies for the maintenance of in-service wind farms. We have recently collaborated with partners to offer groundbreaking technologies including no downtime ground based cameras, drones (UAV’s) and AI monitoring software to offer an efficient service to our clients.

Additionally, as a full IRATA member, we offer a world-class rope access service that enables our technicians to access hard-to-reach areas in a safe and efficient manner.

An End-To-End Statutory Inspection Service

Most of our wind energy clients request us to provide annual statutory inspections at one or more sites, but the exact nature, duration and complexity of these inspections depends entirely on your organisation’s needs.

You can depend on us to be attentive; develop a schedule that ensures full regulatory compliance and allows us to minimise downtime by spotting and remediating problems before they become a significant risk to the asset, personnel or members of the public.
