Eddy Current Inspection on Scabbed/Blistered Pipework
Published in NDT & Inspection

Challenge

Glacier Energy was asked to provide inspection of scabbed areas on pipework and validate samples onshore to identify areas of potential leaks and unplanned downtime.

Solutions

Pulsed Eddy current testing is one of many electromagnetic testing methods used in advanced NDT for flaw detection, as well as thickness & conductivity measurements.

Our inspectors are highly experienced in performing this non-destructive technique and are PCN qualified to level 2 & 3 in accordance with ISO 9712 in eddy current testing.

Benefits

  • Customer was very satisfied with the results due to the quality of inspection
  • Potential cost and environmental efficiencies due to the prevention of leaking pipework
  • Cost saving overall due to being able to assess scabbed pipework for remedial FM work as part of planned maintenance
  • Increased the longevity and integrity of pipework
  • Mitigation of risk
