Challenge
Glacier Energy was required to carry out a complete overhaul of a 12 x 50ft heat exchanger.
The biggest challenge was completing the work on each of the exchangers, which were over 50ft x 4ft in size and weighed over 25 tonnes, in a confined working area.
Solutions
- Refurbishment of 12 x E140 Stabiliser Side Reboiler Heat Exchangers
- Glacier Energy re-tubed complete units, replacing tubes, baffles, tie rods and spacers and machined all gasket faces
- Carried out NDT using UT, MOI and IPEK techniques on 100% welds and carried out thickness checks on the shell using a Rovver 225 camera crawler system
