Glacier Inspection Services is Granted Fit for Offshore Renewables Status

29th June 2023

Glacier Inspection Services has been granted Fit for Offshore Renewables status, a programme developed by the ORE Catapult and Nuclear AMRC to help the UK supply chain get ready to bid for work in the offshore renewable energy sector.

The rigorous programme which takes approximately 12 – 18 months to complete, follows an extensive evaluation process to ensure that Glacier Inspection Services has sector specific knowledge, met the standards of excellence and has the competence and key management systems in place for the offshore renewable sector. Glacier Inspection Services was part of the second cohort of the highly in demand programme, which currently has a 275% average demand for a programme place.

The drive behind this programme is to strengthen the competencies of the UK supply chain in order to fulfil the rapid growth that is required to help meet the UK and global net zero targets. It is believed that with a more energised and competent supply chain, the wider industry will benefit.

Even though Glacier Inspection Services has been present in the wind sector for more than 30 years, the business has achieved recent growth with the introduction of wind operations and maintenance services including full rope access capabilities both on and offshore. The growth of the business is expected to be accelerated with the Fit for Offshore Renewable status being granted.

Business Development Director, Tracie Watson who is leading the Glacier Energy group’s renewable strategy commented on the recent achievement and said “The Fit for Offshore Renewables programme has helped enhance our team’s knowledge, skills and has already created new opportunities for us”.

“With fantastic programmes like Fit for Offshore Renewables, it will help ensure that the UK supply chain companies like Glacier Inspection Services is well equipped to support the UK’s net zero 2050 target.”

“This award is representative of our commitment to the renewables industry and will assist us in becoming a leading player in the wind services market. We now look ahead to utilise all that we have learnt through the Fit for Offshore Renewables Programme and build on our impressive wind track record”.
