Challenge

The customer required 2 off cooler bores (1395mm ID) machined to a rework dimension (specified by the Operator) and within a tolerance of 0 + 0.004”. Due to the size of the division plate in the bore, this scope required specialist equipment with bespoke modifications. The shutdown was due to commence mid Feb 2016 and was expected to cost $8 million per day making this a high priority scope.

Solutions

We designed, manufactured and mobilised specialised equipment to suit the application. Technicians were then mobilised with the equipment to Nigeria. Working on a rotational pattern, the work was completed, 3rd party inspected and passed within weeks of receiving the enquiry. Project was completed to customer satisfaction and within shutdown timescale.

Benefits

The Operator did not have to extend the shutdown making significant savings due to Glacier Energy’s immediate response capabilities.
