Challenge
Due to incorrect commissioning, the client’s seawater heater had a tube failure and required an urgent repair.
Solutions
- Bent and buckled tubes were difficult to remove, but the team’s experience meant that they were able to offer the client a solution that saw a complete strip down of the unit, removal of the tubes, installation of thicker wall tubes and upgrading of strength to the welds to give overall superior mechanical strength.
- The unit was then fully rebuilt, tested and returned to the client within the tight deadline.
