NDT Inspection Services - A Glacier Energy Insider Perspective

5th April 2021

Grahame Mackie joined Glacier Energy towards the end of 2020 as Business Development Manager for our Inspection Services division. Several months on, Grahame explains more about his role, his background and how the company is leading the way in supporting our customers’ NDT inspection challenges.

Talk about your current role within Glacier Energy?

My role is to grow existing accounts and create new business opportunities for our inspection services division. With my knowledge, international experience, and vast network of contacts, I hope to increase our market share internationally and across the wider energy services sector including onshore, offshore, and renewable energy.

What is your experience in the NDT and inspection services field?

I have a fairly long and established track record in the inspection services sector (in excess of 28 years) in both new build construction and existing plant refurbishment projects. Prior to joining Glacier Energy, I worked for Applus where I held various senior business development, technical and project management roles both in the UK and internationally.

What do you enjoy about working at Glacier Energy, so far?

I enjoy the teamwork, camaraderie, and culture. Senior management are very good at empowering their teams and giving them the tools and accountability to help grow the business and provide the best solutions for customers. I have also been very impressed by the depth of expertise and capability across the business which enables the company to be a single-source partner for our customers’ asset integrity challenges.

How can the work that you/the team do, support our clients’ NDT and inspection services challenges?

Glacier Energy’s inspection personnel are amongst the best in the business. Through organic growth and acquisition, the company’s NDT and inspection capability has grown substantially, and we can offer customers a broad variety of techniques and services.

What sets us apart is our agility, professionalism and responsiveness combined with the technical competency and expertise of our highly skilled teams. We are immensely proud of our heritage and strong track record and as a progressive partner, we continue to focus on the development of new techniques & ways of working to improve efficiencies and productivity.

At Glacier Energy, we offer our commitment to NDT inspection excellence to help our customers’ achieve safe, secure, sustainable and profitable operations.

How can Glacier Energy’s NDT and inspections services team play its part in the energy transition?

The team has an established and growing track record in the renewables sector for the provision of conventional and advanced NDT services. Around 30-40% of our business revenue is from the renewables sector and we see demand for our services growing based on our strong reputation and commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Looking ahead, the introduction of new and advanced NDT technologies and techniques will be a priority for our business in order to push the limits of our advanced NDT offering and maximise the operational performance of our customers’ assets and infrastructure.
